Design 2025/ Build TBD
The youth lead group Over It along with Art Start Rhinelander are working with the City of Rhinelander to build a skatepark in Hodag Park which is central in the community. The site is ideal. It sits next to a big lake that is busy all year round with water sports, beach goers, sparkling Christmas light tours, ice fishing and a small WPA building that currently houses a Witt Siascoco sculpture inspired by the youth advocating for the skatepark.
This park is a project pushed by the local youth who developed their own organization called Over It. This group has experienced loss. At the forefront of the their goals is not only to create a great skatepark, but a meaningful space that encourages connections that help support healthy emotional well-being.
Art integration within the skatepark was inspired by the mystical Northwoods environment with integrated art moments under the direction of Art Start Rhinelander.
The balanced layout includes street and transition elements that wrap around a green space and face a popular central lake, park, and community swimming area. To extend the skate season, the most popular features are located under the roof structure to give year round availability.
