Next to the Tahlequah Skatepark that we renovated in 2017, sat the old public swimming pool that once was a community hub but became a stagnent pond-like environment after its closure. In 2017, the city decided to create a bowl addition to the skatepark with the space.
In the early spring of 2018, after relocating the turtles to the nearby creek, we started the makeover from pool to bowl. The new bowl follows most of the existing pool depths, and all tile markers and chairs remain to pay homage to the history of the site. The pool house will be renovated and used a community center for Tahlequah youth.
