Shneider Park (off pedestrian path near bridge)

Off a pedestrian path, next to a beautiful urban creek and hemmed in by housing- this design really hugs the space and becomes one with the Bexley environment. Thanks to the 550+ respondents of the design survey and to the strong advocacy group that met with us many times to give valuable feedback about the direction.

The design is long and flanked on both ends with transitional elements. The round wall on one end is a whippy, stamped pocket and on the opposite lives a 4′ mini ramp with a 7′ extension. In between is a long sea of street options including bank to curb, combo boxes, mellow kinked rail, down rail, 4 step, wally hub, euro, pyramids and a myriad of ledges. The upper level interpretive deck lines and a gift for those who love street flow design.

The neighboring creek has important historical significance. It was part of the Underground Railroad and people would hide in the roots of the big sycamore trees for safety. The roots that provided safety were on inspiration for the Sycamore Banks acid stain mural completed by Christy. The sealer darkened the image but it will lighten up with use, so get out there and skate it!

When the asphalt path is complete, you’ll discover a whole line of path elements we built in for those pedestrians that are on the go but want that quick hit. A few bonuses were left for you curb skaters so make sure you guys put them in good spots on the path!

Thank you to the city of Bexley! The Mayor and Mike Price from Parks, you are the MVP’s 100%.
